Notes for Agnes Lily (Known As Doll) HARLING
Agnes developed Dyptheria as a young child and was deaf throughout her life as a result of it. Her father was killed in an accident on the river Thames when she was about two years old. She was very delicate as a child and spoke of being carried around on a pillow because of her frailty. Through this she was called “Doll” and this was the name she was known as all her life. She was never known as Agnes.
